“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Somewhere along the way you picked up the idea that being a Christian means becoming a better version of yourself. Old you, version 2.0 — a little kinder, a little cleaner, a little more disciplined. And when version 2.0 keeps crashing, you feel like a failure.

But look at the verse again. It doesn’t say “if anyone is in Christ, they are an improved person.” It says new creation. The Greek word means something created fresh — a kind of thing that did not exist before. God didn’t recycle you. He didn’t patch you. In Christ, He made you new from the inside out. The old has gone — past tense, done, gone.

Why does this matter on an ordinary Tuesday? Because you can’t feel your way into this truth; you believe your way into experiencing it. Change stops feeling impossible when you realize you’re not producing a new life — you’re learning to live from one you already have. You are not what you keep doing. You are what God made you. Start there.

Declaration: I am not an improved old creation — I am a brand-new one, and the old is gone.
